ESRI ArcGIS Earth is Now Available

Recently, we reported that Google Earth was going to lose it’s U.S. Parcel data layers, which further confirms the accuracy of other rumors that Google Earth would eventually go away altogether. It’s something that has been talked about for a couple of years now and I suspect that Google is looking to get out of the GIS business.

With the expected demise of Google Earth on the horizon, ESRI has stepped up to the plate in an effort to provide a suitable replacement. The time is now, as ESRI has rolled out the ArcGIS Earth website, complete with information and download links.

But will your Google Earth data work with ArcGIS Earth? Early reports, without any specific references or details, are very positive thus far.
